Description:
This corpus collects German sign language (DGS) data. For this project, native, early, and late DGS signers were recorded performing different tasks (narratives of short picture stories/cartoon clips) and engaging in free conversation. These recordings and their annotations are stored in this corpus.
Charlie Chaplin 3: A man walks down to the riverside and puts a rope around his neck. CC passes by and sees the man. He approaches and tries to remove the rope from the man's neck but then the man accidentally puts the rope around both his and CC's necks. He then bends down to pick up the rock attached to the other end of the rope. The rope slips from his neck and now only CC is attached to it. The man throws the rock into the water, and CC flies into the river. The man tries to pull him out but also falls in.
UZ is a male native signer who recruited the participants in Aachen and recorded them.
EK is an early DGS signer. He was born deaf and started signing DGS around the age of 2-3. He also knows Turkish Sign Language (TID) and ISL. His parents are Turkish and also deaf.
KK is a native DGS signer. He was born deaf and started signing DGS around the age of 1. His parents are also deaf. He also knows ASL, BSL, LIS and ISL.
