Description:
Conversation on different topics while walking from Popoheo to Guguha and Kolosori in order to watch the Isabel Games. The first part of the walk is by the beach, from Popoheo to Holokama, via Tihitubu. During the second Part, from Holokama to Guguha Community School and Kolosori Village, twe follow the inland road, which leads us to the lower bush and a coconut plantation.
At that time, Radu was a PhD candidate
Murose is Edwin Haidu's daughter with his non_Blanga (Western Province) wife Yvonne. She started attending the village kindergarten while I was there. My impression was that her first language is Pijin (one of the few native speakers). When I saw her again, after 20 months, she would also use Blanga.
At that time, Nason was (a) Chief of Popoheo Village
George is one of Chief Haidu's sons. At that time he was probably in his late 20s.
Edwin (Eddie) is one of Chief Nason Haidu's sons.
At that time, Walter was the Youth Secretary of the village. He is a younger brother of Chief Nason Haidu.
This is the general name for a group of people attending an event but not necessarily participating in our recording sessions. They can be best characterised as bystanders but some of them also say something during the event that ends up being recorded. Here, this includes Edwin's wife Yvonne and Georges' wife Suzana. They occur sporadically but hardly speak.
