Description:
Coding Prosody: Textgrids with prosody codings from each of the two authors at the first plausible syntactic completion point (as determined by the norming study). A third folder contains texgrids with the combined codings and a third tier with the final code used. Other files are scripts creating these texgrids and calculating reliability (summarized in reliability_results.txt).
Title (Preliminary): An investigation of turn-end anticipation in conversational turn-taking: The roles of context and prosody. Abstract (preliminary): This project consists of an auditory button-press experiment of 96 turns taken from within 10-20 seconds from the start of a telephone conversation from the CGN, presented with or without prior context. A visual norming study was also performed in which participants saw the words of the turns one by one on the screen (1 s. each) and pressed a button when they thought they saw the last word. On the basis of the norming data, 35 turns were identified that contained a plausible early syntactic completion point. These points were coded for three cues of prosodic completion. The number of button-presses in the auditory button-press experiment around the early syntactic completion points was higher the more prosodic cues were present.
